ShelterCare would not be able to provide the level of
service that we do without the help of dedicated volunteers. There are
so many ways you can become involved in helping families and
individuals live the fullest lives possible.
- Hold and rock an infant
- Read to young children
- Share your expertise in
art, music, exercise, geography, etc.
- Help residents learn
life skills— cooking, balancing a checkbook, or riding the bus
- Join the 2008 HouseWarming
Auction Committee
- Bring a group to help
with landscaping or a special event
Companion/Life Skills Instructor
You can help residents who have been disabled by a brain injury or
mental illness to learn life skills that are vital in their ability to
live independently. Help a resident to go shopping, learn to ride a
bus, or cook a meal. Just visiting with them can make a significant
difference in their recovery.
Activity Group Instructor
Help our residents with a mental illness or brain injury to gain
new life skills while having a great time being social. Teach a group
in arts & crafts, cooking, yoga, music -- or whatever it is that
you love to do!
Infant & Toddler Care
Volunteers are needed once or twice a week in the mornings to play
with children at the Children's Program at Family Housing Program.
2008 Housewarming Auction
Have you been looking for a way to expand your skills, develop your
talents, or just give back to those who are really in need? Contribute
some of your creative energy volunteering for a wonderful event— ShelterCare's
Annual HouseWarming Auction!
ShelterCare's Annual HouseWarming Auction is our one
public fundraising extravaganza and a great way for individuals to
become actively involved with our growing organization. We need
dedicated volunteers to help with planning by sitting on the steering
committee or pitching in on the day of the event.
For
more information on the many volunteer opportunities available, or to
volunteer anytime throughout the year, please contact Gene Obersinner at
686-1262.
