STREETBALL

Films For ShelterCare

Presents

Join us on March 15th, 2012 for an evening of hope. As we take a journey to South Africa and learn how sports and team work can come together to give hope to those who might not have any.

The Film

Streetball is a documentary that tells the story of South Africa’s 2008 Homeless World Cup team. The Homeless World Cup is an annual soccer tournament that draws teams from over 56 countries—comprised of homeless and the excluded.  The films creators discovered that, "It was clear that a soccer ball had a huge opportunity to change the lives of people on the street, and we wanted to be part of that change." Streetball is a story of hope and of the resilience that dwells within the  human spirit.

The Goal

According to a 2010, report there were 962 people in homeless families in Lane County. Through ShelterCare's Homelessness Prevention Program, we work to keep families in their homes. It costs as little as $500 to keep a family in their home, while it can cost up to $5,000 to shelter and rehouse the same family. We hope that with this event that we can raise enough money to help keep eleven families (one family for each player on a soccer team) in their homes.

Get Tickets

Tickets are available at the door for $10.00.

Raffle tickets will be on sale in the lobby before the start of the movie.
