We believe our community is strongest when everyone is valued, supported and safe. To get there, we strive to ensure people have equal access to stable, affordable housing and the resources they need to live as fully and independently as possible.
ShelterCare is a private, nonprofit human-services agency directed by a board of community volunteers. We offer a range of housing solutions combined with wraparound services for vulnerable community members who are homeless or on the verge of homelessness. Our programs help people keep their current housing or recover lost housing. Then we work with clients to build the skills necessary to stabilize their housing.
ShelterCare enriches lives through exceptional services that nurture hope, opportunity and dignity.
We offer a variety of housing support services for people who are homeless or those facing homelessness with a committed focus on the community's most vulnerable individuals dealing with psychiatric disabilities, acquired brain injuries and homeless families.
We can provide:
- Emergency Shelter
- Transitional Housing Services
- Vital Long-term Supported Housing
Additionally we provide:
- One-on-one and group support to build skills for independent living and household stability.
- Assistance with basic needs such as food, clothing, and household supplies.
Our employees, partner agencies and volunteers work together for the benefit and support of our multiple communities.
Each service we provide is individualized because each person or family we serve is unique.
We provide a caring environment where people find hope and achieve significant success rebuilding their lives.
We help people acquire and regain skills, develop increased self-reliance and achieve independence.
Philosophy of Treatment
We follow the most accepted and up-to-date, evidence-based best-practices while providing care to the families and individuals we serve.
The agency's six programs help move people toward greater levels of independence. Creating a caring community has been a guiding theme for ShelterCare since the agency was established in 1970. Supported by private contributions and publicly supported services, the nonprofit agency has grown from a single homeless shelter to several distinct programs that serve individuals and families in need of supported services.
