ShelterCare
shelters and supports families and individuals providing each an
opportunity to live the fullest possible life in an environment that
fosters well-being and success. The agency's eleven programs help move
people toward greater levels of independence.
Creating a caring community has been a guiding theme for
ShelterCare since the agency’s organization in 1970. Supported by
private and public contributions, the nonprofit agency has grown from a
single homeless shelter to several distinct programs that serve
individuals in need of residential support services.
ShelterCare is a private, nonprofit human services agency
directed by a board of community volunteers. Program services are
provided in three areas
- a range of mental
health programs from supported living to intensive residential
care, with several programs specifically for people who are
homeless
- residential training
programs for survivors of acquired brain injury
- emergency shelter and
transitional support for families with children who are homeless
or at risk of homelessness
- homelessness prevention
services for families with a good chance of remaining in their
homes
Community contributions sponsor a significant portion of
the agency’s service in the form of in- kind donations, volunteer time
and generous financial support. All donations
to the agency are tax deductible. The agency’s federal ID number is
23-7115003.
